There was much basketball that was played this weekend in Las Vegas. There were some outstanding performances from players that many may not talk about. High school basketball has become the IT Thing. Most people are like the wind, wherever the leaves blow they go!

It is always good to see local talent perform and create a buzz for them self. This game can sometime be very biased to the unknown. Let’s take a look at some of the players who represented well from Las Vegas!

Let’s start in the back gyms, where most of the groupies are not found! These type of players are not asking for respect, they are going to take it! I can ride with these type of players! There is an old saying that goes NEVER ASK A MAN TO DO FOR YOU WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF!! That is why Unit 1 Hoop Source is the only Independent Basketball Publication in Las Vegas!! We don’t ask for permission, we represent the unknown!

2020 6’0″ PG Anthony Hunter of Durango played very well this past weekend. In the Tarkanian Classic he average 21.0 ppg, he also help his team to go 2-2 in the tournament. On the season he’s averaging 22.0 ppg and 5.3 apg

2018 5’10 PG Donovan Joyner of Las Vegas had a monster game to close out the Tarkanian Classic, drop 41 points on Wood Cross of Utah. Teammate 2019 6’5″ Jaylin Headen also played very well young fella average 17.1 ppg in the tournament. I keep telling the City he might be the best rebounder in Las Vegas. Team finished 3-1 In a tough Gatorade Division.

2019 5’11” Guard Daniel Plumer of Democracy Prep, All this young men did was average 17.0 ppg and finish the tournament with a 30 point game. All so was offer by Grays Harbor college. Team finish 3-1 In the Gatorade Division , won 3 place game. Only 2A Team In Tournament from Las Vegas

SOME OF VEGAS BEST PERFORMANCES:

2018 6’5″ SG Maka Ellis of Sierra Vista Just came into the Tarkanian classic and dropped 42, 46 and 30 points. Young fella is a quiet assassin that’s going about his business. He’s preparing himself for the rest of the season.

2020 6’7″ SG Julian Strawther of Liberty had 37 points 8 rebounds 4 steals and 4 assists in a win against “San Joaquin on the National stage! On that day Young fella put in major work! One of the better performances from a young fella that I have seen in a long time.

2019 6’5″ Forward Antwon Jackson of Clark Is one of the best interior post players that Las Vegas has to offer. Too many people don’t talk about him, but he is a nightmare in the post. Very skilled with his foot work! Young fella can play! Had a very good tournament!

2021 6’3″ CG Jaden Hardy of Coronado, Sometime I think people forget that this is a young fella. That is playing with the big boys, and Performing very well. He had 29 pts against Camarillo high in the Tarkanian Classic. His team is 6-1 on the season.

Overall I was impressed with the participation of teams that represented Las Vegas. We must continue to push academics among our children in the public school system. Basketball is only temporary for most of our children. Life skills they will always need in order for them to be successful!

VEGAS ALL DAY!
