Unless you are a high school basketball fan; you will be hard pressed to know about players outside your region. There are definitely players who will catch your eyes. Because of how hard they play in between the lines.
2022 6’10” 190 pound Power Forward Ben Middlebrooks of Westminster Academy (FL) is starting to wake school’s up all across the nation. According to 24/7 Sports, they have Ben Nationally ranked 84 and 17th best power forward in his class.
Ben has good size for a power forward; but needs to continue to fill out his body frame with his current training regimen. I had an opportunity to watch Ben preseason training on YouTube. This young man is working extremely hard on all aspects of his game.
Ben has good mobility for a big man. Solid hands, active motor, and very disruptive on the defensive side of the ball. He is not Super athletic, but a very good looking athlete. He has the ability to affect games with his rim protection.
On the offensive side of the ball, Ben is comfortable with putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. He can face up and knock down the 15 foot jump shot. Ben has solid fundamentals on the block.
He has showed flashes of being able to step out beyond the arc and knock down shots. If he continues to develop in this area; he will create problems by stretching the floor with spacing.
Ben has not reached his full potential. But his development and recruiting is definitely moving in the right direction. At the current moment Mr. Middlebrooks is being recruited by Auburn, Florida, Clemson, Florida Gulf Coast, and Notre Dame just to name a few.
