When you think of Florida, the first thing that comes to your mind is big-time football. I personally believe that this state does not receive enough attention when it comes to producing high-quality basketball players.
As we continue to survey the landscape of high school basketball, let’s take a look at some of the young talent in Florida.
2023 6’6 wing John Gamble of Punta Gorda (FL) Charlotte, is a player that is attracting a lot of attention. Gamble will be entering his sophomore year with a lot of expectations surrounding him. After doing my research and going through a lot of film, I can see why SEC programs are starting to track this young man.
It is still early for the class of 2023 but, you can rest assure Mr. Gamble should find his way on someone’s Top 100 list. John is still developing as a player; all the tools are there for John to become a big time prospect.
At 6’6, John’s length and size will create problems for his opposition’s. The 2023 prospect is quick off the bounce and rebounds the ball well for his size. John is an explosive athletic perimeter threat who is versatile. He shows flashes of having the ability to get out in transition and manufacture shots.
John has the ability to finish in the paint. He pounds the glass, and delivers through-contact. He brings a defensive presence to the game. Mr. Gamble is active on both ends of the floor. I am extremely impressed by this young man’s potential.
At the current moment John has received a high major offer from Ole Miss, and offers from Stetson & Mississippi Valley St. He is also receiving interest from Alabama and Florida State.
