There’s talent all over this country. Every region in America has outstanding prospects. Unless you follow high school basketball on a national level, there will be player’s you will not be familiar with.
Over the years I have come to understand, that it is about development and growth. For a lot of these players paying attention to details and mastering their craft will be the key to their success! I like players who bring the blue-collar approach and leave everything on the court.
2023 6’5 guard KJ Lewis of El Paso, Texas is definitely on the radar. Last season KJ was arguably the best player in his city. He averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.
I had an opportunity to see KJ perform at the 2019 CP3 Camp where he dominated his opposition and played well. Fast forward to 2020 at the Pangos South All freshman/Sophomore Camp.
KJ demonstrated his athleticism and versatile as a guard. He brings a level of toughness and has a relentless work ethic. KJ is explosive and has the ability to finish through contact. On the defensive side of the ball, he plays extremely hard by creating turnovers and getting out in transition.
By no means is Mr. Lewis a finished product; but he is definitely trending in the right direction. With consistency and a commitment to improving in areas like his jump-shot, he will definitely be a player that schools will be knocking at his door.
At the current moment, KJ Lewis is being recruited by UTEP and Houston.
