The Top 7 High School Basketball programs in the City of Las Vegas

When I decided to take on this topic of discussion I knew what I was getting myself into. It will be many people in the basketball community who will say, who am I to take on this discussion.

I have never been the type of man to shy away from constructive dialogue. In this day and time you must have skin like an alligator when presenting an argument.

Las Vegas is becoming a hotbed for potential prospects. The basketball Community is growing at an all-time rate.

Over the last year-and-a-half I have been doing  my homework, studying High School institutions and their basketball programs. I must explain to people there is a difference between having a program, and an ordinary team.

Let’s take a look at the definition of what team really means:

A group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project.

Team members 1. operate with a high degree of independence, 2. share authority and responsibility for self-management 3. are accountable for the collective performance, and 4. work toward a common goal and shared rewards(s). A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members.

Program building is something sensual to creating a solid foundation that can be looked too for substance in the long run. What are some of the key factors in program building.

Let’s take a look at some of the factors:

  1. Is the program committed to the student-athlete.
  2. How hard does the coaching staff work to put the child in a winning position on the court and also off the court.
  3. How committed is the institution in providing the resources for the program.
  4. What is the relationship between the coaching staff and College Coaches
  5. How important is academics to the student-athlete and the coaching staff, do the coaching staff push the athlete.

Over the years I have seen so many people put a lot of effort into rankings, and also player projection. They lose sight on program building.

We are at a point in this game of basketball that we must hold these High School institutions accountable for their basketball programs.

To the parents looking for the right program:

If you are a parent that is serious about your child playing at the next level then you must do your homework on program choosing.

If it’s just recreational, and it’s something to keep your child busy than any program will work. I see so many parents come to games complaining about the coaching staff. Many of those type of parents never have done their homework about the institution. I say to those type of parents please don’t complain you put your child in that situation.
